Merck sees higher 2007 profit on new medicines 
Readington-based Merck & Co. forecast higher profit in 2007 on sales of its newest treatment for diabetes and its cervical cancer vaccine, after closing plants, cutting jobs and introducing five drugs this year. Profit excluding certain costs will rise to $2.51 to $2.59 a share next year, Merck, the fourth-largest U.S. drugmaker, said today in a statement. The forecast was in line with the $2.56
