Whirlpool to Sell Hoover Unit to Asia's Techtronic (Update2)
Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Whirlpool Corp., the world's largest appliance maker, agreed to sell its Hoover vacuum-cleaner unit to Techtronic Industries Co. for $107 million in cash to focus on selling household machines such as washers and refrigerators.

Merck sees higher 2007 profit on new medicines
Readington-based Merck & Co. forecast higher profit in 2007 on sales of its newest treatment for diabetes and its cervical cancer vaccine, after closing plants, cutting jobs and introducing five drugs this year. Profit excluding certain costs will rise to $2.51 to $2.59 a share next year, Merck, the fourth-largest U.S. drugmaker, said today in a statement. The forecast was in line with the $2.56
